The Christmas Morning Gift

The Christmas Morning Gift

Are you looking for a book about the real meaning of Christmas? If so, this is the book for you. During this time of the year we tend to get so wrapped up in out doing ourselves and out doing others that we tend to overlook the most important thing. The people we love and those who love us.

My children enjoyed reading this book. We had a long conversation after we read this book about the true meaning of Christmas. We talked about how matter things don’t matter nearly enough when compared to love, kindness and understanding. We talked about how it is important to show everyone we love just how much they mean to us on a daily basis.

The Illustrations

The illustrations in this book are breathtaking. Micheal is a very talented self taught writer and illustrator. Each page draws you in to the magical snowy farm and holds you captive. Our favorite illustrations are those of the farm animals. The detail on each farm animal is just stunning. You can see the innocence in their eyes.

The Story

The Christmas Morning Gift is a simple story that tells the importance of showing love and giving selflessly. That reminds me of The Little Drummer Boy because in both stories the storyteller feels left out of the joy of Christmas. Throughout the story both the pig and the drummer boy learn that the best gift are those that come from the heart. This is the true meaning giving from the heart not giving the most expensive gift. As a parent I try to teach this to my children daily. This book is a great way for parents to teach this during Christmas time.

We whole heartly recommend you go out and purchase your copy of the book. We are sure you really will love it just as much as we did! We are also sure it will turn into a Christmas tradition to read and talk about it just the way we intend to.

Response to Reading Activities

The Christmas Morning Gift is a great book to start off the month. Then you could begin the Christmas Kindness Calendar in which the children need to do one act of kindness a day. Below you can find some other response to reading activities that can be used in a classroom or at home.

    • Yes, Joanna I agree the meaning of Christmas is much more than it has become.Which is why this book is the perfect for the holiday season.

      • I have always wondered. How do you teach a child, the difference between a present and a gift?
My feeling is that a percent is something that you buy at the big box store and a gift is something you give from your heart. The Christmas Morning gift is a about giving. It has been said that: “He who gives of himself gives all”.

Wishing you all the best this Christmas season!
