Rochester’s Big Bright Light Show is on a smaller scale than Disney’s Osborne Lights used to be but, just as spectacular. Lit each night through the holidays the colorful string of lights are in front of every building on main street. Each building is a different color, and you have to choose which one is your favorite to get your picture taken in front of it. Families love walking up and down main street looking at the displays, taking selfies, and of course enjoying the restaurants and shops in Rochester.
There is so much to see with all the stores competing for the best window displays of the town. Rochester’s “The Home Bakery” has won first place several times. You can always count on a crowd gathered in front of their window. This year’s display of Beauty and the Beast took over 700 hours to complete. The details are amazingly accurate. Kids love to see what The Home Bakery will design for their window display each year.
Another family fun tradition is to visit the gingerbread display at the Royal Park Hotel, which is a short walk off of main street. Each year the hotel puts on a beautiful display of gingerbread decorating masterpiece. The theme changes every year, and each one is better than the last one. If your family decorates gingerbread houses together, You should come to the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester for next year’s inspiration.
