Ripley’s Believe it or Not-Odditorium

Ripley’s Believe it or Not-Odditorium

This was our first ever visit to a Ripley’s and it was very interesting. The kids and adults loved it because there was lots of little extra things to do and lots of interaction. It was a perfect way to spent a few hours later evening. They are open until midnight so it was a perfect way to end the day. It would also be a good choice if you got caught in a shower. We spent about 2 hours here and enjoyed everything there was to  see and hands on activities.

When you first arrive you are greeted by Mr. Ralph Ripley in  his office. The kids got a kick out of it. Once you pass this you arrive at a  mirror where they ask you to try to roll your tongue. Now we were here for a long time trying to do it. Some of us could and some of us couldn’t but we sure did get a lot of laughs. What you don’t know is that someone at the end of the tour is looking at you making funny faces. Imagine our surprise when we came to the end and discovered it.But I have to be honest it was really funny.

The whole place is quirky, of course, but there are some interesting displays. Such as this Elvis made from 600 Elvis’ I mean how cool is that!! They also have several optical illusions that you can enjoy. I can say the plus about going late at night is that we could take our time enjoying the illusions.

If you though that was cool you will enjoy this picture of Frankenstein made out of several computer keys. Isn’t it amazing? We thought it was super cool and creative!

There is a room where everything is tilted. This room was fun to go through. My two-year old was scared to go in because they had a big bear on the opposite side of the room. Once he realized it was not in the room we were going into he laughed and enjoyed the room.

The kids also spent a lot of time in the Willard Wigan Micro-sculpture section. They have tons of needles on display. which are super cool. Willard uses homemade tools to create micro-sculptures inside the eye of a needle. It really is so amazing to see!

Through the oddditorium there are tons of photo-op opportunities such as this one of the World’s Heaviest Man or the giant gorilla made out of tires.

But to be honest the best part comes at the end. After you pass the wax people you arrive at a platform that runs through a tunnel. The tunnel spins around make you feel like you’re falling off the platform really cool because the walls spin and the floor doesn’t move but mind gets fooled and it is totally awesome!

All in all Ripley’s Believe It or Not- Orlando is a must stop! If you have the Go Orlando Go pass take advantage of this fascinating  place and well worth the  unique visit especially if you have children. So, remember it is open 365 days a year from 9am – Midnight daily. (last entry is 11pm) If you choose not to buy the Go pass then tickets are $19.99 for adults, $13.99 for children ages 3-11. Kids 2 and under are free. If you book your visit online you can save an additional $3 for adults and $2 for children.

  1. I remember reading the Ripley’s Books when I was a kid in the 80s! What a fun adventure for any aged kid…mainly saying that cause Darcee thinks of me as a 41+ year old kid!
There used to be one in Panama City Beach and we used to see the bizarro building but never went. I am going to have to add this to my Orlando Bucket List things to do. Love it!

    • It really was awesome that they were open late because you could fit it in after doing other things that close early. When we got to the end and found out what was happening with the mirror we were embarrassed yet we couldn’t stop laughing lol!
